The Hope Institute offers a virtual IOP in New Jersey for adults in every county, from Bergen and Sussex to Mercer, Monmouth and Camden. Our online intensive outpatient program treats drug and alcohol addiction through live video sessions, three to four sessions of about three hours each week, on a day or evening track. New Jersey law requires state-regulated health plans to cover telehealth on the same basis as in-person care. Call (855) 659-2310 for a free assessment and a check of your New Jersey plan.

Virtual IOP NJ Residents Can Join From Any County

Our virtual intensive outpatient program serves North, Central and South Jersey with one schedule and one clinical team. Adults join from Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Essex, Hudson and Sussex counties in the north; Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Somerset and Union in the center of the state; and Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Ocean and Atlantic counties in the south.

Every session runs on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform you join from a computer, tablet or phone. Our program is led by licensed New Jersey addiction clinicians, including LCADC-licensed directors, and The Hope Institute is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Online IOP NJ Schedules for Commuters and Working Adults

New Jersey has some of the longest commutes in the country, with residents driving the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway or riding NJ Transit into Newark, New York and Philadelphia. Our online IOP in NJ keeps treatment inside your day instead of adding another drive to it.

  • Day track: fits shift workers, parents with school-age children and adults stepping down from partial care.
  • Evening track: fits full-time employees who log in after work from home.
  • Hybrid option: adults who live within driving distance can mix online sessions with in-person visits as treatment goes on.

Each week includes the 9 or more hours of treatment that national ASAM standards set for adult intensive outpatient care.

New Jersey Addiction and Overdose Data, 2022 to 2025

Overdose deaths among New Jersey residents fell from 3,171 in 2022 to 2,816 in 2023, according to the New Jersey Department of Health, and the State Medical Examiner reported a further 27% drop in suspected overdose deaths in 2025. Camden County recorded the most suspected overdose deaths in the state in 2025, with 168, followed by Essex County with 156.

Fentanyl is involved in most of these deaths. A telehealth IOP in NJ gives adults in every county, from Camden and Essex to Sussex and Cape May, the same level of addiction care without the travel.

Telehealth IOP Coverage Under New Jersey Law

New Jersey’s telehealth law (N.J.S.A. 26:2S-29) requires state-regulated health insurers to cover telehealth services on the same basis as the same services delivered in person. Under P.L.2021, c.310, as extended, insurers pay telehealth providers the same rate as in-person care through December 31, 2027.

For you, that means three things:

  • A covered intensive outpatient program stays covered when you attend by video.
  • Your copay, deductible and coinsurance for telehealth cannot be higher than for in-person care.
  • State Health Benefits Program and School Employees’ Health Benefits Program plans follow the same telehealth rules.

New Jersey Insurance Plans We Verify for Online IOP

We verify benefits from the carriers most New Jersey employers offer, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, AmeriHealth, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Oscar Health. Coverage and out-of-pocket cost depend on your plan and deductible, and our team confirms both before you start. Private-pay options are available for adults without coverage.

Addictions Treated in Our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program in NJ

Our virtual IOP for New Jersey adults treats alcohol addiction, opioid and heroin addiction, cocaine addiction, prescription drug misuse and methamphetamine addiction. Treatment combines group therapy, individual counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy and relapse prevention, with family sessions available. Adults who also live with depression, anxiety or trauma receive dual diagnosis care in the same plan.
